Description

Applications:
Jacalin, an D-galactose-specific lectin from jackfruit (Artocarpus integrifolia), specifically binds human IgA1 (called secretory IgA or serum IgA) and does not bind other immunoglobulins such as IgG, human IgA2, or IgA from other species. Jacalin coupled Separopore is used for the purification of glycoproteins containing -D-galactose, specifically those with O-glycosidically linked oligosaccharide side chains. . Jacalin-Separopore 4B-CL is used for purification of glycoproteins containing -D-galactose and is useful for purification of human serum (orsecretory) IgA1. IgA can be separated from human IgG and IgM in human serum or colostrums using immobilized Jacalin. This support is also useful for removing contaminating IgA from IgG samples. Additionally, Jacalin binds IgD. Jacalin can also be used to separate IgA1 subclass from IgA2.
